Malaysia's investigative team arrived in Kiev

KIEV: Special investigation team from Malaysia who was assigned to investigate the unfortunate incident that befell Malaysia Airlines, flight MH17 arrived at Borispol International Airport here.

They arrived at 4 am local time (9am Malaysian time) by charter plane Malaysia Airlines flight MH5002 Kuala Lumpur, Kiev.

The team consists of 131 members from various agencies including the Police Forensic Unit and Search and Rescue Teams Special Malaysia (SMART) will conduct an investigation to find the cause of the incident as well as post-incident management tasks.

Also included are employees JAKIM to assist with the funeral.

Head of delegation, Hilmi Khairil Mokhtar said the team will meet with representatives of the Malaysian embassy in advance.

"There are several issues that need to be resolved before the team is allowed to enter the scene of the accident, including the distance from Kiev to a location more than 500 miles,"

"We expected to be here for seven days until the 25th day, but it depends on the current situation," he said.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak had announced would work closely with the government of Ukraine and Russia for allowing a special investigation team to the scene in Malaysia.

On Thursday, the MH17 flight from Amsterdam to Kuala Lumpur carry 298 passengers and crew crashed in eastern Ukraine reported when the airspace of Ukraine-Russia border.
